For the Dutch Payments Association, 2024 was all about accessible banking and payments and various legislative processes.<\/p>\n
In 2024, the Accessible Banking program focused on simplifying and expanding telephone assistance, the follow-up pilot for Bank Information Points, raising awareness among bank employees, and providing more workshops, information meetings, and new training materials.<\/p>\n
At the end of May, we will announce our plans for the period up to 2030, based on the insights and experiences of the past two years.<\/p>\n
In 2024, legislation and regulations concerning cash were proposed, with potentially far-reaching consequences for businesses, banks, and Geldmaat.<\/p>\n
Both Brussels and The Hague are pushing for an obligation for point-of-sale establishments to accept cash up to a certain maximum amount per payment, anytime and anywhere. We therefore commissioned a study to investigate the costs that such an obligation would entail.<\/p>\n
From 2025, various new European laws and regulations on payments will be introduced, which were prepared in 2024 and the years before. The Payments Association contributed to responses to public consultations on these new laws and regulations in 2024. We supported our members in their efforts to comply with the new laws through meetings, working groups, and task forces.<\/p>\n
