In addition to the European standard several additional features are possible in the Netherlands
Instant Payments in The Netherlands are implemented according to the SEPA standard. Several additional features are possible in The Netherlands: making sure that we go faster and that any amount is possible. They are specified in NL Standards.
Implementation of either none, one or both of these NL Standards is optional for a payment service provider wishing to offer Instant Payments. All participating parties will at minimum offer the European standard, ensuring that their Dutch bank accounts can always be reached by means of the European standard.
NL Standard on Maximum Amount and Maximum Execution Time
This standard specifies the following two additional features for The Netherlands:
- the Instant Payment transaction will take no more than 5 seconds (target), and the hard time out deadline is set at 7 seconds
- any amount per transaction is possible
NL Standard for instant processing of the SEPA Credit Transfer
This standard specifies the following additional feature for The Netherlands:
- the Instant Payment transaction will take no more than 5 seconds (target), and no hard time out deadline will be applicable
- any amount per transaction is possible
