A g-account, or guarantee account, is a (largely) blocked account that can only be credited. It is used solely to make payroll taxes or VAT payments to the Tax and Customs Administration. Debits from a g-account can only be made to other g-accounts and to IBAN NL78INGB0000444040 of the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.

A g-account is to be recognized by the number sequence 099 at position 9 to 11 of the NL IBAN (following the four character business identifier).

These special accounts are used mainly in the construction industry for work contracted to subcontractors. The Liability of Subcontractors Act on the remittance of payroll taxes by subcontractors (Wet Ketenaansprakelijkheid) stipulates that the principal contractor is liable if subcontractors fail to make payments of payroll taxes for employers or VAT payments. By depositing the subcontractor's payroll taxes and VAT payments obligations in a g-account, the principal contractor covers this risk, while the subcontractor can use this account to fulfill his payroll tax and VAT payments commitments.
