- Farewell conference for Gijs BoudewijnSubmenu
On May 15th, the departure of Gijs Boudewijn was marked with a conference

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) in Amsterdam hosted a farewell conference to mark the departure of Gijs Boudewijn as managing director of the Dutch Payments Association. The conference was entirely devoted to collaboration in payments, a topic that Gijs has promoted with conviction and dedication throughout his career.
Program
The program offered a rich variety of reflection and looking ahead. Arlette Broex and Gertjan Rösken kicked off, followed by Inge van Dijk (DNB), on the evolution of collaboration in payments over the years. Martijn Snoep (ACM) discussed the limits of cooperation within the legal framework. Gijs then spoke with Arlette and Gertjan about the future of collaboration in an increasingly international and technologically complex landscape. This conversation was recorded as a podcast by De Nieuwe Knikkers.
The speakers and podcast recording were alternated with live music by the Aires Tropicales Quintet.
Farewell
The formal farewell was announced by Gottfried Leibbrandt, chairman of the Payments Association, paying tribute to Gijs for his many years of service and presenting a lifetime achievement award. Gijs also spoke and handed his director's 'baton' to his successor, Arjan Bol.
The afternoon ended with toasts and snacks, allowing for personal tributes by attendees and to reminisce about old times with Gijs.
